FAQs
my pilates background
I have been teaching movement since I was a teenager. Originally teaching hip hop and tap, then becoming certified in yoga in my 20s; and, soon after- embarking on my pilates career.
I am a fully certified pilates instructor, completing certifications and continued learning courses with Mindful Movement, Balanced Body, Stott Pilates and Peak Pilates.
Since completing my certifications I have taught in group and private mat/ reformer/ chair and cadillac classes in private members clubs, hotels and studios in Canada, Mexico and the Bahamas.
my journey to pilates
I was introduced to Pilates as a teenager, by my mother who took me to classes at the Stott pilates studio in Toronto.
I became reacquainted with pilates in my twenties, due to the urgings of my medical team at the Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Clinic in Toronto (part of the University Health Network).
I started taking classes at Mindful Movement Centre in Toronto; and, after seeing benefits immediately (in particular a reduced reliance on painkillers, a reduction in symptoms and an improvement in mobility)- I was an instant convert.
Initially, I made the decision that I wanted to learn pilates for my own purposes; and, then quickly realizing it was more than a personal practice but a calling to share this healing modality with others.
learn about my equipment
Central to my method, is my equipment and props. Including the reformer, the chair and the ladder barrel, weights, resistance bands, bala bands, the pilates circle, pilates balls, the cardio tramp, pole, the arc barrel, foam rollers and yoga blocks.
